About Respect The Culture SoundRespect The Culture Respect The Culture is an entertainment and multimedia company, globalizing hip hop culture through music, fashion and art. At RTC, our vision is to (1) return to the roots of hip hop culture in order to bring hip hop to the next stage in its evolution by focusing on: -positivity, creativity and non-violent means of expression; -socially, spiritually and politically conscious products; and -the four elements of hip hop: breaking, writing, mc'ing and dj'ing, as well as stying, beatmaking and family. (2) recognize the global nature of hip hop music and culture by bringing new sounds and cultures to the U.S. market; and (3) utilize the media of today and tomorrow via digital distribution, video and visual media and licensing for film and television. Background We have witnessed the unprecedented rise in popularity in hip hop and R&B from a key facet in urban life to a global musical, social and cultural phenomenon. In its early days, hip hop was not about money, drugs, misogyny, sex and violence, as is promoted in the media today. It was an urban, cross-cultural, means of expression and at times, a non-violent means of communication that resulted in the resolution of tensions between people of different cultures. As hip hop has become global, so has our world. Rather than respecting and appreciating our differences, people in the United States and around the world have chosen to assert their political, religious and cultural beliefs through violence and destruction. At Respect The Culture, we hope to contribute to the growth of hip hop around the world while encouraging fans to express their creativity and their uniqueness in the spirit of innovation and peace upon which hip hop was founded. Respect The Culture Goals To put it simply, our goals are: Make and sell great music; Design and sell great looking clothes with a socially, spiritually and politically conscious message; Provide a medium for talented visual artists; and Encourage positivity, creativity and non-violent expression through the arts in our community. Peace on the streets, The Respect The Culture Family
